Principal's Message

Welcome to Katella High School and the Knight Country Webpage!

As the proud Principal of Katella High School, it is my pleasure to work with nearly 2500 students and over 100 staff members to ensure a positive and rewarding experience for your student. The Katella Knights are proud of our rich history of academic, extracurricular, athletic, and artistic programs designed to benefit and advance student curricular and extracurricular achievements. The following programs and classes continue to promote that rich history: honors and advanced placement classes; AVID and Puente programs; ELD classes; special education services; UC approved core classes in English, math, science, social science, world languages, fine and performing arts, culinary arts, a JROTC Army program, Regional Opportunity Program (ROP) classes in Construction, Computers, and Automotive Services, specialized counseling services, a wide array of business and computer classes and extracurricular organizations that foster community responsibility and service. Additionally, our students have the opportunity to participate in a comprehensive athletic program and compete with some of the best athletes in the nation.

This year, the students and staff of Katella will work towards continued improvement on the California State Standards as well as strengthening our commitment and service to the greater community. Katella staff believes that teaching above and beyond the standards helps build well-rounded students who are prepared for success after high school. Katella is very proud of our rich traditions and we look forward to providing the best possible learning environment for all student. Help us encourage your students to become involved in our many programs outside of the regular school day. Student organizations, clubs, and athletics all promote and support school community involvement and academic success.

I look forward to working with the many families that trust the Katella staff to educate and care for their students. I am always available to meet to discuss school issues or the individual progress of any student with parents, guardians, and the students themselves. Additionally, the excellent counselors and support staff make themselves available at all times to assist in designing and implementing effective school and career plans for our students.

To make the 2008-2009 school year the best for you and your student please see it to support Katella High School in any way you can. Consider becoming part of the Katella family of support, by joining PTSA, a booster club, becoming part of the English Learners’ Advisory Committee (ELAC), or volunteering for help with school events. I look forward to making the high school experience a positive and memorable one for you and your student. We will be seeing you at our many activities that make high school a great experience! On behalf of the staff here at Katella, thanks for supporting us and your student and making this a great year!
